SESSAY cricketer Jess Watson helped to put the Yorkshire Women Under-15 squad through their paces at Terrington Hall School.
A group of 22 U15s came through initial trials and were again put to the test at Terrington Hall by lead coach Peter Watson, Joe Ashdown, of the Yorkshire Cricket Board, Yorkshire Women first-teamer Jess Watson and Becky Glen, of Durham Women firsts.
Peter Watson said: “The day was just as much about teamwork, attitude and starting to define ‘our way to play’, as it was about the girls’ technical abilities.
“It is undoubtedly the case that within our own county more and more girls are not only taking up cricket but playing to an ever improving standard.”
The day concluded with a question and answer session in which players and parents had the opportunity to quiz Jess Watson on ‘Reaching for the next level’.
