Children from across the York area took part in the Procoaching cricket academy, writes Mat Robinson.

Around 50 Yorkshire children attended the three-day event as the summer camp schedule came to an end.

The Procoaching cricket academy started the summer in Heworth for a three-day event in July and since then has been touring Yorkshire.

The academy, which coaches all ages country wide, hosts several different camps every year in a variety of areas up and down the country.

The academy has several different course types for kids including summer camps, kids’ clubs and girls’ coaching as well many others.

The highly qualified ECB coaches teach all aspects of the game including batting, bowling and fielding using unique drills to help the development of the juniors.

The sessions, which are designed to improve the skills of junior cricketers, are a fun way for juniors to socialise and stay active throughout the holidays.

Now the summer camps have come to an end, the academy is now focusing on preparations for the next school holiday.

The next session in York will be part of the winter development programme and will begin on Monday, October 7 and continue until Monday, December 9.

Under-12s and U16s can book for the camps at either Archbishop Holgate’s School or Harrogate Grammar.
