VICTORY in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Six-a-side rounded off a second successive trophy treble for York Cricket Club’s all-conquering under-13s team.

The Clifton Park youngsters won the Hirepoint Plant Tool & Hire Championship, retaining the trophy after beating Heworth in the final at Bolton Percy.

Having lost to Heworth in the first round of their defence of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Knockout Cup, York progressed to the final of the Plate competition where they secured a final victory over Clifton Alliance at Malton.

Holders York ‘A’ went head-to-head with Heworth again in the final of the six-a-side tournament, which was held at Clifton Park and the neighbouring Shipton Road base of Clifton Alliance.

Heworth batted first and totalled 68-3, with Dan Davison retiring on 22 and Ryan Whitley hitting 23 before retiring. Kewell Ford added 13.

York’s Ben Wilkinson returned figures of 2-11.

York ‘A’ then edged to a six-wicket victory with one ball to spare, scoring 69-0.

Captain Alex Liley scored 20 retired and Wilkinson completed a superb all-round display by retiring on 22.

Cameron Hall finished on ten not out and Matthew Scurry was unbeaten on seven.

Earlier in the tournament, York came through their group matches unbeaten, toppling Ovington, Woodhouse Grange and then Londesborough Park, with one ball to spare.

York cruised to victory over Sheriff Hutton Bridge in the semi-finals, bowling out their opponents for only 24 before knocking off the runs within four overs.
