YORK ‘B’ overcame zone ‘D’ leaders Wheldrake thanks to a good allround team performance in the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Development League.
Batting first, York’s W Morn top-scored with 26 while Elliott Heath added 22.
Wheldrake were then kept in check by a superb performance with the ball from George Burton, who took 3-6, while there was also tight bowling from Harry Gibson, who finished with 2-4.
Wheldrake’s Andrew Murtagh made 15 and Oliver Swift 13 not out.
Wheldrake’s loss allowed Sheriff Hutton Bridge to take over at the top of the table following a win over Acomb Girls.
J Cawkwell top-scored for the Bridge with 28, while B Fairclough also batted well as he made 18 not out.
T Stephens was the pick of the Bridge bowlers as he took 2-3. Fairclough and Cawkwell also bowled well to finish with figures of 1-6 and 1-10.
Acomb’s K Townsend was not to be outdone as she made ten not out with the bat and took 1-21 with the ball, while E Barker also bowled well as she took 1-11.
