HEWORTH ‘B’ finally got their first win of the season in the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13 Championship against Ovington.

The zone ‘A’ clash saw Matthew Anderson score 25 and Heworth were helped by 30 wides and no balls in their total of 80-8.

Despite 21 from Thomas Brown, Ovington fell eight runs short thanks to disciplined bowling from Jakob Vaughan (2-7) and David Hartley (2-9).

Woodhouse Grange’s total of 92-3 was not enough as Sheriff Hutton Bridge dug out a seven wicket win thanks to 32 not out from Harry Sutcliffe.

Owen Marshall and Joe Kilvington (both 32 not out) gave Clifton Alliance a platform against Malton in Zone ‘B’ as they made 100-4. Malton were bowled out for 58 with Dan Hobson and Kilvington among the wickets.

York ‘A’ are through to the play-offs after beating Acomb ‘B’. They made 128-5 with Alex Liley (30 not out) and Matthew Scurry (28 not out) leading the way.

Thomas Walsh took 2-16, Sam Wordsworth 3-15, Charlie Atkin 2-2 and Ben Wilkinson 2-13 as Acomb fell shot.

In a tense finale, with both sides needing the victory to reach the play-offs, Londesborough Park 90-6 lost to Heworth ‘A’ 93-4 by six wickets.

Heworth triumphed thanks to a dogged 26 not out from Harry Sheppeard and a quick-fire 18 from Dan Davison.

Earlier, Tommy Hudson batted superbly to retire for 30 as Londesborough were restricted to 90, which included 21 wides.

Osbaldwick and Londesborough Park had wins over Dunnington. In the play-off semi-final, Heworth had a 38-run win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Meanwhile, Londesborough Park are through to the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13 Cup final for the third year running after beating Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Rory Stephenson scored 25 in Park’s total of 112-8. Although Josh Ainley hit 23 not out, Bridge closed on 69-9.

Clifton Alliance, meanwhile, are through to the Plate final for the second year in succession thanks to a ten-wicket win over Yapham.

Joe Kilvington’s 30 and 27 from Owen Marshall saw their side home.

They will meet York in the final, who had too much firepower for Gilberdyke. York closed on 145-5 and Sam Wordsworth took 3-6 as Gilberdyke were restricted to 44-9.

The U13 development league continues to be tight with Hemingbrough squeezing past Gilberdyke and Yapham beating Bishopthorpe by six wickets.
