The battle of the two unbeaten teams in the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire under-13 Championship zone ‘B’ was deservedly won by York.

They avenged their cup defeat against Heworth with a comfortable victory by 35 runs.

Alex Lilley (33 not out) and Jack Williams (30no) did the bulk of the damage in a York total of 111-4. Only Ryan Whitley, with 1-9 from his four overs, stemmed the run flow.

Other wicket-takers were Luke Huffer, with 1-17, and Dan Davison and Zak Moorcroft, who both recorded 1-18. In reply, Heworth never really got going.

Only Kewell Ford, with 20, showed any major resistance along with 14 from Huffer and 11 from Oliver Hughes. York shared the wickets around, with Tom Backhouse (2-3), Ben Wilkinson (2-14) and Sam Wordsworth (2-15) the main contributors.

Clifton Alliance batsmen made hay to prevail at Acomb ‘B’ – Owen Marshall (31no), Joe Kilvington (30no) and Dan Moll (25) compiling the bulk of 17-1.

Although Keiran Garghan hit 31 not out, his side could only manage 73-4 in their reply.

Luke Scott hit 28 as Malton & Old Malton took first knock and made 85-7 against Pocklington, for whom W Parkin took 2-8.

Pocklington’s response was led by T Yates. He top-scored with 13 as the brakes were applied by Alex Biles, whose 3-19 underpinned a nine-run triumph.

Unbeaten Woodhouse Grange are heading for the play-offs after a six-run zone ‘A’ win over Acomb ‘A’. Dan Robertson made 22 not out in Grange’s 71-6, with A Sanderson taking 3-11. Acomb closed on 65-5, led by D Murray (14), while Dan Durkin grabbed 2-7.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge are favourites to join Grange after they had a win over Ovington, who were no match for the Bridge bowlers.

Despite 16 not out from Ralph Sinclair, they fell for 31 with Gabriel McGill taking 4-4. T Campion made a quick 14 to seal the win by eight wickets.

Bolton Percy were restricted to 69-9 with M Quarmby hitting 16 against York ‘B’. It almost proved enough, York toiling against James Wilson (2-7) before 22 from Zac Darnband sealed a two-wicket win.

After Selby crashed to 63 all out, Tadcaster Magnets raced to 64-0 and a ten-wicket win.

In a bowler-dominated Development League game, Hemingborough’s Ethan Umbo (3-14), Thomas Kilgar (2-2) and Olly Turvey (2-2) laid waste to Stamford Bridge, who fell for 31. James Cain took 2-7 but could not quell a seven-wicket win for Hemingbrough.

Batting first, Gilberdyke posted a handy 96-6 with J Newbiggin 22 not out and N Creaser 18 not out. A Kerrigan posted 2-8.

And in the reply, Kerrigan hit 18 not out and T Thomas 33 not out only to run out of overs with 22 runs still required.

Favourites York reached the U13 Plate semi-final with a 21-run win over Woodhouse Grange.

They posted a challenging 100-3 from 20 overs with Ben Wilkinson hitting 30 not out, Alex Lilley 27 and Jack Williams 21.

Both J Hattee and Matthew Ainley made 31 not out but Grange closed on 79-2.
