THE repeat of last year's Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-15 Presidents’ Cup final between York and Londesborough Park yielded a first in the quarter- final duel, writes Paul Wilkinson.

For the first time this season York were bowled out with Lewis Medley finishing with 3-4 and Ben Shingles 3-14 as a total of 83 looked well-below par.

But Tom Spearman’s 2-7 helped to skittle Park for just 61 despite 27 from Nathan Saltmer.

Malton & Old Malton eased through against Yapham.

There were three not out half centurions – Morgan Frazer, M Boulter and Shaun Harland – in their total of 189-1. Then, N Lock took 4-6 as Yapham fell for 41.

Heworth overcame Clifton Alliance with Will Huffer contributing 32no and 3-7 and Tom Brotton chipping in with 26.

For Alliance, Jamie Butt top-scored with 26 and Owen Marshall made 24.

The semi-final draw (to be played by July 12) is Heworth v Malton and Old Malton, Sheriff Hutton Bridge v York ‘A’.

Like their U15s, Heworth also reached the semi-final of the U13 Knockout Cup with a victory over Acomb.

Batting first, openers Luke Huffer (30retired) and Dan Davison (31ret) started at breakneck pace scoring 50 in the first six overs. They were assisted late on by Kewell Ford who gave the innings a late push with 32ret out of 124-1.

Acomb were always behind the run rate despite D Murrie making 27 and J Thornton 20.

Zak Moorcroft, grabbed a 3-11 haul.

Ovington’s total of 102-6 owed much to 31no from Ralph Sinclair.

Osbaldwick pushed hard but closed on 87-6 after Matty Popely made 16 and T Jackson 16 with Finn Coughlan taking 2-16 and Op Sorin 2-14.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s Harry Sutcliffe (3-10) and A Campion (2-10) made life difficult for the Malton & Old Malton batsmen restricting them to 44-9 with Josh Berry hitting 11 and J Windress 10. Bridge posted 45-2 and, manof- the-match Sutcliffewas unbeaten on 30.

Londesborough Park had a ninewicket win over Dunnington to gain them a trip to Sheriff Hutton Bridge in one semi-final.

Heworth will host Ovington and both ties will be played by July 10.

In the first round of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13 Plate, an undefeated 30 from Matthew McFarlane and 15 from Dan Harvey took Stamford Bridge to a four-run win at Bishopthorpe, whose Angus Bindloss hit 26 and S Stoneman 24.

Clifton Alliance had Joe Kilvington to thank for their seven-run win over Selby. He made 30no and took 3-12. For Selby, P Abbott struck 33no.

Batting first, York made 114-6 with Alex Lilley (30no) and J Williams (32no) prospering despite the bowling of J Smales (2-7) and T Yates (2-12).

Pocklington closed on 73-8 with T Binns 22 not out. T Backhouse hauled in 2-3 and A Hynes 2-15.

Hemingbrough made 69-9 with Luke MacAllister hitting ten, while Charlie Marr bagged 3-18 and Jack Wilson 3-25 for Tadcaster Magnets.

Marr top-scored with 15 but it was not enough as Josh Bell (2-4) and Steven Steadman (2-6) cut through the Magnets batting and they fell short at 60-8.

Tadcaster Magnets made it through to the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 IB Cup semi-finals against Bolton Percy after a win over Bishopthorpe.

Cameron Mackay top-scored with 34no with Miles Buckle unbowed on 19, while there were wickets for Katie Burton (1-1), Jordon Dawson (1-11) and Riley Van Berg (1-11). C Lipscombe took 2-14 for Bishopthorpe.
