RUN-GRABBING Luke Wilson proved the scourge of Bishopthorpe in a York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire under-15 Championship duel.

Wilson hit 50 not out for Woodhouse Grange in their zone ‘A’ triumph over Bishopthorpe for whom Doug Corbin took a healthy 3-21 haul of wickets.

Unbeaten York went to the top after a ten-wicket win over previous leaders Acomb. Tom Spearman was again in the wickets, taking took 3-6 of Acomb’s 59 all out. Richard Brown hit 44 not out to see his team home.

Batting first, Dunnington’s total of 171-4 was built on 45 from Jay Snowden, 36 not out from Alex Wilson and 33 from Jack Spofforth. In reply, Tadcaster Magnets were bowled out for 77. The win moved Dunnington into second place and right in the hunt for a play-off place.

Another team pushing for the play-offs is Sheriff Hutton Bridge. They also batted first and made a comfortable 151-3, of which Will Quinn hit 53 not out and Cameron Herd 45.

This proved too much for Dringhouses who closed on 63 all out.

The top of zone ‘B’ continues to be keenly contested between Londesborough Park and Malton & Old Malton.

Lewis Medley, whose unbeaten 53 was supported by Joe Shingles’ 30 not out, underpinned a winning score of 150-4 for Londesborough Park. Daniel Tunnicliffe’s 25 helped Yapham to 67-9 in reply.

For Malton & Old Malton, Shaun Harland hit 50no and Matthew Butler 49 in a competitive score of 134-4. It proved to be too much for Pocklington who closed on 84-5.

After suffering a two-run loss last week Heworth managed a two-run win over Clifton Alliance. Batting first, they were bowled out for 107 with Will Huffer top-scoring on 44 and Will Moll taking 3-17. In reply, Alliance closed on 105-6 with Jake Atkinson 50no.

Another two-run triumph saw Ovington beat Osbaldwick. For Ovington, Matty Roberts made 36no.

The York ‘B’ total of 144-5 was too much for Stamford Bridge, whose 72-8 was led by 29 from Lewis Woardby.
