DOUBLE-WINNING Ralph Butterfield Primary School ended the year on a high.

The Haxby school’s netball team won the North Yorkshire Schools’ Games at Queen Margaret’s in Escrick , and then claimed the Haxby High Five tournament trophy.

Ralph Butterfield lined up with 16 other primary schools from across the county to compete on finals’ day at Queen Margaret’s.

They came through their seven group matches to qualify for the semi-finals, where they beat Harrogate side Pannal to book a final appearance against Skipton.

The side’s were level at 5-5, but Ralph Butterfield bagged two goals in extra time to emerge 7-5 winners.

The second success came at the 27th annual High Five organised by Haxby Netball Club for local primary schools.

They emerged victorious after matches against pupils from Headlands and Wigginton .

Meanwhile, Haxby Netball Club are welcoming girls moving up to secondary school in September to their junior training sessions at the courts at Ethel Ward Playing Field on Mondays from 6pm to 7.15pm.
