PUPILS from Huntington School are in fantasy land.

The youngsters at the York school have won the North and East Yorkshire Regional title for Schools Fantasy Football.

Huntington took the award for the first time thanks to the performance of the top 20 managers of each school.

As well as winning the regional crown, Huntington also came eighth in the country out of more than 1,700 schools.

Schools Fantasy League was developed in 1999 for schools, and is based on the real life performances of players in the Premier League.

Huntington School had more than 120 managers taking part in the 2008/9 season, including pupils, staff and parents.

The overall school winner was a parent, Mr K Wilson, while the student winner was Rasell Zaman for the second year running. Top staff entrant was Mr Price.

Teacher Mike Bruce, chairman of league at Huntington, said: “This has been a fantastic achievement. We were top nationally for three months, but just fell away at the end.

“It is an excellent way to build relationships with students. The manager of the month awards are eagerly anticipated and celebrated by staff and students.”
