PUPILS at Archbishop Holgate’s School have been trying their hand at a range of sports as part of their annual Healthy Week.

The venture aims to get kids of all ages to “be healthy and try something new”.

The week is always jam-packed full of fun activities and games for all pupils – and sometimes even the teachers – to enjoy.

Even PE teacher Ruth Walker was unable to resist taking part in some of the activities on offer.

This year, all pupils had the chance to take part in a laser tag game in their PE lessons and lunchtime clubs. The game was so popular that the staff had to limit the numbers to 25 per session. The game attracted more than 100 pupils per day.

The York school also had the use of a climbing wall, which was again very popular as most youngsters wanted to test out their climbing skills.

Other activities included kick boxing, skipping, ultimate frisbee and hip hop dancing.

The theme of the week was shown throughout, as most pupils definitely tried “something new”.

Walker said: “It’s been really fun and the kids have really enjoyed the week.”
