PATCHED-UP Thorpe United Under-16s were 4-2 winners in their Garforth Junior Football League division one trip to Ossett Town.

Thorpe visited Ossett with a team of ten players and no recognised goalkeeper, but they battled to prevent the home side making their advantage count.

Ossett drove forward in numbers and a powerful well-placed shot proved too good for stand-in keeper Richard Buckthorpe.

The hosts managed to double their lead with a chipped effort beyond Buckthorpe.

The second half saw Ben Clowes playing as a lone striker and the switch in position worked as he gambled on a Buckthorpe goal kick, battled well to gain space and pulled a goal back with a fine finish.

The equaliser came when Jordan Emery’s corner was cleared as far as Haydn Brown, who placed his shot beyond the keeper to level the scores.

Thorpe took the lead when James Arnold’s cross ended up in the back of the net and Buckthorpe made a save Emery slotted in a fourth.

Littlefield was Thorpe’s man of the match.
