A SENSATIONAL scoring spree by Oliver Pratt saw Heworth Under-10s beat Fryston Warriors 52-32 at Elm Park Way.

Pratt notched nine tries and man-of-the-match plaudits as his pace and skill stood out throughout.

Pratt scored a tremendous try-of- the-season contender in the second half when catching a kick five metres from his own line, speeding down the wing to leave the defence in his wake and then stepping the last man to score.

He also benefited from the best move of a close first half as the ball went through the hands of Feargus Brown, Kian Ogilvie, Ben Young and Lucas Burden to create the gap for Pratt to touch down in the corner.

Fryston never gave up and caused the home side problems, especially close to the line as their powerful forwards barged over.

Top tackler Burden scored the Villagers’ other try with a tremendous run from inside his own half, stepping inside and out before finally diving over.

Sydney Bates and Charlie Clarke had their best games of term with the former named parents’ man of the match and most improved player for some trong running and vital tackles.

Conversions were added by Harry Brown, Pratt, Sam Hunt, Ogilvie, Bates and Clarke.

Fantastic defence proved the difference between the sides as Heworth U11s won 36-10 at West Bowling.

Heworth came out strongly and took an early lead as fantastic handling from the impressive Jay Ogilvie put Theo Walton in.

Centre Jay Richards crossed and, although Bowling finally got through to reply, Heworth substitute Luke Dorking upped their lead just before the interval.

Further tries in the second half came from Dorking, Walton and Richards, with Tyker Monks ending with six conversions from six, sealed victory.

Tom Clarke was again top tackler, Jamaal Tokalau was most improved player, Adam Wong was the parents’ star man and James Leach claimed the man of the match award.

Heworth U8s failed to carry on the strong defensive efforts of recent weeks as they lost to Brotherton.

Man-of-the-match Ben Blackburn worked hard with ball in hand to take the team forward, well supported by brother and most improved player Charlie.

Top tackler Archie Pye scored three tries and Isaac Cook was named man of steel.

Harvey Barker’s electrifying pace proved telling as Heworth U8s ‘A’ tore apart previously undefeated Meltham.

Barker bagged six tries, often on the end of lovely passing moves.

Strong defence in the middle from man-of-the-match Kenzie Witty and top tackler Johnathon Hartley kept the visitors at bay.

Soren Tait gave his best performance of the season, while Thomas Hardy (2), Harvey Monks (2) and Hartley added tries.
