EVERYTHING clicked into place as Heworth ARLC Under-10s conjured a superb team performance to win 64-18 at Hunslet Parkside.

The victory earned the team the respect of the home coaching staff, who named them all as opposition man of the match for the free- flowing rugby they produced.

The platform was set by the forwards, with Henry Grice-Holt, Oliver Lambert and Harry Brown, along with parents’ man ofthe match Ben Young, who was in stunning form scoring four tries, two of which started within his own half.

Prop forward Oliver King was given the magic moment award for a sensational pass which set up another attacking opportunity for the Villagers to score.

Feargus Brown had earlier created a gap and passed to Lambert to see him crash over from ten metres out.

The former got on the scoresheet in the second half, scooting from inside the opponents’ ten-metre area to dive over.

Oliver Pratt was impressive throughout, causing mayhem in attack, scoring five tries.

Lucas Burden created many chances and deservedly scored the last try to go along with the top tackler accolade.

Most improved and coaches’ man of the match went to the whole team for a stunning performance.

Conversions were added by Young, Pratt, Sam Hunt, Harry Brown, Burden, Kian Ogilvie, Feargus Brown and Grice-Holt.

They are now sporting a new kit and head coach Brent Ogilvie said: “We aim to ensure all our players have fun and enjoy playing the game.

“We are very grateful and proud to have Audi Leeds sponsoring the kit and wish to thank them and in particular Garth Brown, whose son Harry plays for us, for organising.”

Heworth U11s were 38-12 home winners over Meltham All Blacks.

Heworth started the game stronger than their opponents, and it paid off with the opening try from prop Luke Wall.

Some confident passing and free-flowing rugby saw a brace of tries come through centre Jay Richards and a further two from winger Theo Walton, all converted by Tyler Monks to make it 30-0 at half-time.

Meltham came out after the break with a couple of tries, but Heworth hit back with another try from winger Walton to complete his hat-trick.

An inch-perfect kick from most improved player Tyler Monks on the fifth tackle allowed parents’ man of the match Walton to touch down for a fourth try.

Man of the match was Ollie Grimbley and the ever-reliable Tom Clarke took the top tackler award.

Heworth U8s turned in their best defensive performance of the season at Criggleston.

The Villagers were on top from the start and never looked back with the impressive Archie Pye scoring a brace on his debut.

Most improved player Ben Blackburn also crossed for a try.

Opposition man of the match Charlie Blackburn and man of steel Ellis Harper also shone.

Heworth U8s ‘A’ travelled to Hunslet Warriors and kept their hosts off the scoresheet.

Harvey Barker collected the man of steel award with some outstanding defence, well supported by top tackler Freddie Wilson, who also crossed for two tries.

James Potter was the most improved player in only his second game for the club.

Other tries came from Dan Clarke, Kenzie Witty, Jonny Hartley and Soren Tait.
