THORPE United Under-16s were 3-2 winners at Chapeltown in division one of the Garforth Junior Football League.
A patched-up Thorpe side got off to the perfect start when James Arnold released man of the match Szymon Czubik and he slotted the ball beyond the Chapeltown keeper.
The second goal came only minutes later when Jordan Emery’s corner was punched clear only for the ball to be put back into the box for Haydn Brown to find the net.
Stand-in keeper Dominik Stankiwicz was beaten as the hosts got back into the game, and they then equalised despite a thrown-in appearing to go in without a touch.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Emery played in David Melling and he ran at the defence, jinked around a tackle and then shot into the corner of the net.
