YORK Schoolboys Under-13s stayed in the mix for the league title with a 6-0 win at Scarborough.

The York boys have one game remaining and their championship chances also depend on the results of their rivals.

The visitors started well and the defence of James Hanson, Jamie Higginbotham, Ollie Smith and Nick Hutton kept a high line, not allowing Scarborough to break out of their own half.

York’s early pressure paid off on 12 minutes when a Danny Allinson corner was converted by Higginbotham from close range.

Efforts from Lucas Wilson and Charlie Jebson King forced good saves from the Scarborough keeper, while the hosts forced a good one on one save from York keeper Patrick Randall.

The visitors doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time, winning the ball in midfield allowing Wilson to slide the ball to Rob Guilfoyle, who raced past the Scarborough defence to score.

Seven minutes into the second half, York increased their lead when Manni De Nobriga squared the ball across the face of goal, allowing Joe Crosby to tap home from close range.

York soon made it 4-0 when good work from Allinson in midfield was followed with a defence-splitting pass, allowing De Nobriga to thump a shot past the keeper.

It was 5-0 following good work from Robbie Simpson on the left, who found Jebson King and his clever ball set up Crosby’s second.

The scoring was complete when another Allinson corner was met at the far post by Wilson, whose header found the back of the net.
