POCKLINGTON RUFC Colts came back from the dead to win 25-21 at higher league Moortown and reach the semi-finals of the National Plate.

At 21-3 behind after half an hour Pock Colts looked down and out. But a lineout catch and drive try finished by scrum-half Tom Hick threw them a lifeline at the interval.

Pocklington then stepped up in the second period with their forwards taking control. Prop Sam Garvey and Charlie Sleigh, switched from centre to flanker as the management made a last throw of the dice reshuffle, both stormed over for tries - with fly-half James Hanley kicking a conversion to add to his first half penalty.

That closed the gap to one point with seven minutes to go. In the closing stages, number eight Eddie Dixon - 6ft 5in tall and crucially with the longest arms in the team - charged for the line.

Although he was tackled short, he just managed to stretch out and put the ball on the line for a memorable victory.

They will meet Wharfedale at home on April 12.
