UNBEATEN York Schoolboys Under-13s beat rivals Leeds 2-1 to maintain their 100 per cent league record.

The home side took the lead when striker Joe Crosby weaved his way between two Leeds defenders and was brought down in the area, with Danny Allinson scoring from the penalty spot.

Leeds, who were unbeaten before arriving in the Minster city, responded well and attacked in numbers, but the York defence stood firm.

York tried to hit Leeds on the break, with the best chance falling to Rob Guilfoyle, who latched onto a through ball from Mani De Nobriga only to see his shot go narrowly over the bar.

An outstanding save from York keeper Patrick Randall, low down to his right, kept the score at 1-0 at half-time.

On 50 minutes, York increased their lead when a corner was cleared straight to Lucas Frankish and his cross picked out Lucas Wilson, who headed home from eight yards.

Leeds rallied and, from a short corner, reduced the deficit with a glancing header, leading to a nervy last ten minutes when the visitors hit a post.

York’s U11s were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against undefeated Leeds ‘A’ when the title favourites netted a late Yorkshire League equaliser.

York’s defence of George Turbine, Isaac Meehan and Dan Tingle frustrated the opposition to keep the score at 0-0, while York striker Joe Stamp went close after 18 minutes.

Just before half-time, Leeds failed to clear a corner and Meehan hit a shot from distance that the keeper parried into the path of striker Elliot Heath and he instinctively poked the ball into the net.

Will Hollings, Dan Myers, Taylor Bell and Jack Hughes chased every ball for the cause but, when it seemed York would gain a shock win, a free-kick was awarded to Leeds.

The ball was floated into the York penalty area and a Leeds winger volleyed in from distance.
