YORK Acorn Under-15s had only 13 players but put up a courageous fight against Dewsbury Moor before going down 32-16.

Dewsbury scored twice without Acorn touching the ball but the Blue and Golds settled down and crossed twice too - via a powerful solo effort from Leo Baker and a finish in the corner by Joe Brown after a set move.

Dewsbury went clear on the scoreboard but Acorn finished the stronger with Tom Legg scoring.

Henri Grimbley was man of the match, with Jake Wright and Jordan O’Hara also outstanding especially in defence.

York Acorn U14s notched a 30-14 win over Moldgreen.

Windy conditions contributed to early handling errors from both sides but Acorn gained a grip on the game, exhibiting some excellent running and defending.

They let Molgreen back into the game after half-time, but fine displays from Callum Mcenzie, Haydon Tindal and Alex Backhouse guided them to victory.

Reece Ounsley was man of the match as New Earswick U14s enjoyed a 34-6 win over Linley Swifts.

Tries were shared between Jack Byrnes, Dan Scorfield, Iain Oakley, Cameron Wainwright, Ross Limbert and Luke Marfell.

Heworth U11s suffered late agony in a 26-22 defeat at Drighlington as the hosts equalised on the back of a few penalties and then snatched a winner.

Heworth had got off to flier with a try from half-back Oliver Grimbley converted by Tyler Monks and a fantastic solo effort from Luke Dorking.

Drig equalised but Heworth started the second half with a try from centre Jay Richards, goaled by Monks. The hosts levelled again before Villagers winger Theo Walton snuck through after some fantastic passing, Monks' goal making it 22-16.

Oliver Pratt raced over for four superb tries as Heworth U10s continued their fine start to term with a thrilling 34-28 win over Kippax.

Harry Brown, in the forwards for the first time, was the most improved, while Feargus Brown came to the fore when organising the team in a tough period after re-entering the fray to earn the coaches' man-of-the-match accolade.

He had earlier pounced to score from a kick by the outstanding Lucas Burden, while the non-stop Kian Ogilvie also scored and was named man of steel.

Conversions were added by Brown, Ogilvie, Pratt, Sam Hunt and Burden.

Man-of-the-match Adam Hodgson scored five tries as Heworth U9s dominated against Stanley Rangers.

Top tackler Keigan Cumberland scored on the first play, with the excellent Harrison Barker and Leon Jones bagging first-half hat-tricks.

A second-half blitz brought tries for the impressive Ellis Cochrane (2), Callum Costanzo, Ryan Jones and new boy Toby Driscoll.

In-form Heworth U8s gave their best performance to date against Stanningley.

The excellent Harvey Monks (2), top tackler Thomas Hardy, Johnathon Hartley and Ben Taylor scored tries, while Freddie Wilson was the parents' man of the match, Kenzie Witty took the man of steel award and Ellis Harper was most improved with some textbook tackling.

Heworth U7s' tackling was to the fore in a great team show against Featherstone Lions. Joseph Wregglesworth was top tackler, Ellis Beard the most improved in his second game, and Leo Ogilvie and Ellis Southerington the men of match.
