Silver lining as Hadaway jumps to it CITY of York Athletic Club’s Lucy Hadaway won silver in the long jump at the England Athletics Age Group National Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

Hadaway jumped an impressive 5.90 metres to finish second, beating her previous personal best by 28cm. She also threw 10.44 metres in the shot and clocked 9.63 seconds in the 60 metre hurdles.

Chelsea Walker ran a personal best time of 56.78 seconds in the heats of the under-20 400 metres and then clocked 57.28 seconds in the final.

In the 60 metre hurdles, Walker clocked 8.94 seconds.

The 17-year-old, who is back to her best following a back injury last year, has now been selected to run for England over 400 metres at the Welsh International Indoors event tomorrow.

Club-mate Alice Linaker made it through to the semi-finals in the U17s 60 metres hurdles in a tough competition, running 9.20 seconds.

In the U15s, Sola Sowole ran the 60 metres in 8.28 seconds, Ellie Sewell threw the shot 9.58 metres and Edward Lake clocked 7.78 seconds in the 60 metres.

At U17s level, Isobel Avey had a personal best of 42.06 seconds in the 300 metres and was timed at 26.34 seconds in the 200, while Charlotte Stamp ran the 60 metre hurdles in 9.70 seconds.

Henry Fairclough had a throw of 14.36 metres in the shot and Kristopher Wong ran the 60 metres in 7.38 seconds.

In the U20s 200 metres, Tom Roberts clocked 23.38 seconds and Robert Shipley 22.67 seconds.
