CITY of York Athletic Club youngsters sampled a series of successes at the final club race in the National Cross Country Championships.

Josh Dickinson was first York runner home in the under-13 boys' section with a fine seventh place at Hampstead Heath, a position all the more impressive given he was ill in the week up to the race.

Toby Antcliff finished 55th, Herbert Antcliff 89th and Finnian Hutchinson 123rd - all running well to ensure the team came sixth overall.

The same overall team placings was posted in the U15 boys' event, where Angus McMillan in 14th place just shaded Nathan Smith in 15th spot. Maurice Carlton-Seal (91st) and Elliott Hutchinson (104th) completed the team.

The U17 men’s team was below full strength, but Robbie Brown had an outstanding run to come seventh in the hilly, muddy conditions. Tyler Hutchinson came 70th with Oscar Fraser-Krauss in 164th place in his first run of the season for the club.

The only other age group to complete a team race was the U13 girls.

Martha Carlton-Seal led the team in after finishing in 135th place followed by Georgia Neary (257th), Abi Robinson (280th) and Abigail Smith (353rd). The team finished 40th overall.
