POCKLINGTON RUFC Under-13s booked their place in round two of the Yorkshire Bowl with a 14-0 victory over Old Rishworthians.

The Percy Road hosts scored a try in each half to clinch a hard-fought victory in round one.

Pock had the majority of early possession but failed to capitalise as they looked for the perfect try, resulting in several unforced errors.

After a period of Old Rishworthians pressure, Pock moved into the opposition's half and Harry Blades made a thundering run, handing off numerous opponents before touching down.

Harry Matthews converted for a 7-0 half-time lead.

With the two teams being well matched, the majority of the second half was played in the middle of the pitch, with both sides defending valiantly.

Pocklington's Louis Sangwin continued his impressive tackling form, along with Marcus Walker.

The home side capitalised on the scrums, winning the majority of the ball due to some excellent hooking by Archie Raper.

Following one of scrum, Matthews kicked the ball forward and gave chase, only for a penalty to be awarded when the Rishworthians full-back failed to release the ball.

There was a break in play as Ben Doyle suffered a gashed eye but, after the restart, Keian Patel passed quick ball to stand-off Christopher Wood.

He combined with Marcus Walker to get the ball out to Adam Horwell-Carrol, who raced down the wing like an express train to score the perfect try the team had been chasing all game.

Matthews once again converted.

Man of the match was Josh Wood, who showed tremendous commitment throughout.
