WOODTHORPE-BASED Shinko Karate Club members came away with six medals from the KUGB northern region championships - the largest regional shotokan karate competition.
The club produced some outstanding performances in both the kata and kumite events.
Children's novice to 4th kyu kata: Alfie Lewis Strodder first place, Ryan Oxtoby fourth; children's brown belt kata: - Charlie Oxtoby third; ten to 11 years boys' kumite: Alfie Lewis Strodder second; girls' ten to 11 years kumite: Scarlet Robson and Emma Callum both third.
The Shinko karate club trains at St James the Deacon Church hall in Sheringham Drive, Woodthorpe, each Monday from 5.15pm and each Friday from 5.30pm, and also each Thursday at Bilbrough village hall starting at 5.15pm.
