HEWORTH ARLC Under-9s’ hot streak of form continued when they visited Brotherton Bulldogs - despite the home side also playing some excellent rugby.

After dropping the ball on the first set of the match, the young Villagers got it together and never looked back, scoring six unanswered tries in the first half.

Oliver Lambert made some fabulous runs to create space out wide, one of which earned him the magic moment award as he jinked sideways past the defence and off-loaded to send captain Oliver Pratt flying down the wing to score one of his five tries in the game.

Pratt also gained top tackler and coaches’ man-of-the-match awards after superbly leading from the front.

Lambert was parents’ joint man of the match with Sam Hunt, who was always busy in attack and defence and deservedly crossed the whitewash.

Kian Ogilvie was also in dynamic form, diving over for his hat-trick try after a fantastic run in the second half.

The home side had no answer to the visitors’ pace and strong running, but they kept on going and notched two deserved tries.

Heworth’s defence was very good, led by Pratt, Hunt, Keane Brough and Feargus Brown, the latter gaining the most improved award for his best tackle count of the season. Brough also took the ball at pace, sped away and cut inside to beat two defenders and complete the try-scoring.

Reagan Brough, meanwhile, was the opposition’s choice of star man for textbook tackling.
