PUPILS at York’s Hempland Primary School are celebrating a year of sporting success.
The school sent different sports teams to compete at North Yorkshire level as part of the Sainsbury’s School Games.
The girls’ football team claimed a silver medal and represented York East at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick.
The hockey side also represented York East at Queen Margaret’s, finishing in a commendable sixth place out of the ten teams involved.
The school’s Sportshall Athletics team competed against seven other schools at Catterick Leisure Centre and excelled despite missing out on the medal positions.
Two pupils figures in the district cross country event at Catterick Racecourse, with Year 5’s Emily Rayner finishing 21st and Will Rowntree, of Year Y6, coming home in 32nd place.
The girls’ cricket team joined Acomb in representing York at the district finals at Harrogate Cricket Club.
