PUPILS from Ralph Butterfield Primary School are celebrating a trophy double after winning two High 5 netball tournaments in York.
Ralph Butterfield beat Headlands in the final of a competition for Joseph Rowntree’s partnership schools, which was hosted at the New Earswick site.
The two finalists went through to a second tournament at Archbishop Holgate’s School, where they took on schools from across the city to determine the York champions.
The two Haxby rivals reached the final again, with Ralph Butterfield taking top slot after a 7-4 victory.
The top two teams from the York Schools Partnership will now represent York and Selby in a High 5 netball event as part of the North Yorkshire Games Day, to be held at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick on Sunday, July 7.
Meanwhile, Headlands got in on the act when they beat second-placed Ralph Butterfield and third-placed Wigginton in Haxby Netball Club’s 28th annual primary school tournament at Ethel Ward Playing Fields.
Eight teams took part in the competition, with Skelton, Robert Wilkinson, Dringhouses, Bootham and Clifton with Rawcliffe also taking part.
Wigginton finished with 22 points, Ralph Butterfield 25 points and Headlands 28, after a draw with Ralph Butterfield denied them a maximum 30 points.
