Poppleton won the only top-flight match in the rain-hit IT Sports York Mixed Doubles Tennis League.

Wigginton have opened up with two wins in division two.
Ben Walker and Julie Noonan spearheaded a win over Poppleton, although none of the pairings were able to beat brother and sister Nick and Rebecca Turnbull. Ben Storey and Lynette Brammah were then unbeaten as Wiggy beat Bishopthorpe.
Only two teams are unbeaten in division four, with Dunnington claiming top spot after wins against Stillington and Poppleton. John Heads and Bev Tebbutt kept Wilberfoss’ 100 per cent record intact as they beat York.
Former Civil Service captain Phil Sinton teamed up with Rosie Cantrell as Poppleton beat hosts York.
Alne won their opening match in division five as Chris Park and Rachel Price scored 30 games against Rowntree Park.
Captain Aimee Linfoot and Jack Bass finished with an 11-1 win to seal victory for York against Wetherby Castlegarth.
League secretary Jane Parkin and James Parker won all three rubbers for Bishopthorpe against Dunnington and they top division six.
Adrian, Tom and Sam Hitchenor were Sutton-on-Derwent’s winning men against Dunnington.
Robert Parry and Ed Hope were the other joint-top scorers of the week with 33 games as Tollerton beat Fulford.
The two promoted teams – Rufforth and Stamford Bridge – lead the way in division nine.
