FUNDRAISING players in the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League have served up a £900 boost for Breast Cancer Research.

A host of players signed up at the start of last season to raise sponsorship, urging friends and relatives to back to the tune of 1p per game won during the campaign.

Ann Musgrave, chairperson of Appleton Roebuck Tennis Club, handed the cheque for £900 to Rikki Jackson, action team co-ordinator for the charity.

Clubs taking part included Sheriff Hutton, York, Starbeck, Bishopthorpe, Appleton Roebuck, Bubwith, Sutton-on-Derwent, David Lloyd, Rowntree Park, Wigginton, Poppleton, Heworth, Cliffe, Pocklington, Wistow, Copmanthorpe, Fulford, Dunnington, Knaresborough and New Earswick.
