Stamford Bridge Tennis Club has completed the most successful ever playing season in its long and chequered history, winning an incredible six trophies.
Three teams entered the IT Sports Mixed League, winning divisions three, nine and ten. The remarkable treble also meant the firstst team achieved their ninth consecutive promotion since the club was reformed in 2001.
The men’s doubles first team bounced straight back from relegation last season by winning division three and the men’s doubles seconds took the division seven title winning all 16 of their matches. The two men’s teams only lost one match out of 30 between them all season.
And to round off the season in style, the club entered the Graham Wykes trophy for the first time and walked off with the silver beating Appleton Roebuck 58-50 in the final played at Wigginton TC.
The success of the club has been down to a proactive coaching policy, with juniors stepping up and playing team tennis.
The club have now entered a third men’s team for next season and new members are always welcome.
