DAVID Lloyd York came within two points of victory before losing to Tennis World Middlesbrough in an exciting finish to their opening National Tennis League match.
Tom Davies and Ben Dyer went down 10-8 in the deciding set of their match against Stephen Monk and Ross Boyd.
Tennis World edged home 45-37 on games after the teams had finished level at 2-2.
David Lloyd’s Jack Moon and Ben Atkinson lost to Jonathan Smuk and Richard Love 2-6 3-6 before beating Monk and Boyd 6-4 7-5.
Davies and Dyer beat Smuk and Love 1-6 7-6 10-5, but lost to Monk and Boyd 4-6 7-5 8-10.
