HEWORTH are the new leaders of division three of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League after their top of the table clash with previous leaders Cliffe.

They were led by Nick Latchman and Louise Haritakis with strong support from the unbeaten David Hicks and Monika Fitz.

Bishopthorpe are now in third place after a close-fought win at Dunnington who have now slipped into one of the relegation places.

Rufforth won their first match in division one led by the unbeaten James Edmund, who is playing his first season for the club’s first team. He partnered Christine Place in the toppling of visitors Wigginton.

Wetherby Castlegarth already have one hand on the division two trophy adding yet another win at Wigginton led by unbeaten Steve Jones and Rachel Hill.

Rowntree Park lost their first match by just two games at Poppleton with the home side edging the win in an unbeaten final round.

Poppleton prevailed at York led by their unbeaten axis of Dom Shread and Hilary Spencer.

Tom Shouksmith and Pauline Belt ensured Appleton Roebuck still top division four with a win against a strong visiting Dunnington side.

Second-placed Sherburn were well matched against visitors David Lloyd winning by just eight games.

In division five, York maintained their lead with a comfortable win at Poppleton led by unbeaten Reg Favell and Anna Rosenburg.

They are chased by Riccall who lost their first match against Sutton-on-Derwent headed by unbeaten Zak Los and Lynne Marriage.

A second round 12-0 win by John Lintott and Michelle Hall extended Riccall’s winning record at Rowntree Park.

Unbeaten Brett Carter and Kim Lees helped Stamford Bridge remain top of division six after another close victory over visitors Dunnington. Gordon Bruce and Michelle Wall ensured a victory for York at Tollerton before a solid win against New Earswick.
