Stamford Bridge retained top spot in division six of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League after overcoming nearest rivals Bishopthorpe 3 63-45.

Kim Lees and Jenny Hunt were unbeaten with 26 games and they were backed up by solid performances from the rest of the team.

Appleton Roebuck only dropped one rubber as they beat higher placed Wigginton 2 64-44, Sara Heron and Suzanne Webb taking 24 games. Dunnington 4 took advantage of Poppleton 3 only being able to field four players to notch their second win of the season 78-30.

In division five, Knaresborough 2 had a comfortable 74-34 victory over Copmanthorpe 2, Carol Rees and Mary Riley racking up 28 games to close the games difference gap.

New Earswick’s star performers in the 60-48 beating of Dunnington 3 were Nicky Georgiou and Yvonne Petruso.

In division four, Kate Lewis and Anne Garry led the way for leaders Rufforth with 23 games against Sutton-on-Derwent although Sally Simpson and Frankie Marsh battled valiantly with 21 games for Sutton.

Starbeck fired a warning to leaders Pocklington 2 in division three as they stormed past Appleton Roebuck 1 79-29, Helen Halsall teaming up with Lisa Jacob to take 31 games.

Wistow also showed good form as they accounted for Riccall, with Justine Vickers and Rachel Huggins notching up the same number of games.

Rowntree Park beat Boston Spa 2 57-51 thanks to 25 games from Jean Jarram and Angela McClelland.

Copmanthorpe 1 posted their first division two win of the season. Laura Simpson and Rhian Scott top-scored with 27 games, ably supported by Louise Worsman and Jenny Davis with 24 games, including a 12-0 victory.

Division one leaders York 1 had their toughest test so far at Dunnington 1.

Their greater consistency prevailed in a 59-49 win although Joanna Craven and Alex Bolam were unbeaten for Dunnington.
