YORK City Rowing Club’s Tom Ransley and his Great Britain eights crew-mates won World Cup silver in Lucerne today.
Ransley and Co came through the repechage to qualify for the final but they rose to the challenge by pushing world champions Germany all the way to the line.
Winners Germany also won gold ahead of Great Britain at the opening World Cup regatta in Belgrade earlier this month.
GB will be bidding to inflict the German crew’s first defeat since 2009 at next month’s third and final World Cup in Munich before going up against them at the London 2012 Olympic regatta at the end of July.
