YORK City Rowing Club ace Tom Ransley was celebrating the capture of a silver medal from the World Championships, writes Tony Kelly.
Ransley was in the Great Britain eights crew which staged a superb fight-back to get on the podium in Slovenia.
Languishing in fourth place at halfway, Ransley and crew-mates timed their run through the field sufficiently well to grab second place behind Germany.
The octet of Nathaniel Reilly-O’Donnell, Cameron Nichol, James Foad, Mohamed Sbihi, veteran Greg Searle, Ransley and cox Phelan Hill held off Olympic champions Canada.
