A FITNESS fanatic has beaten the British record for a 100,000m indoor row by almost 30 minutes, Julian Norton, 37, of Thirsk, managed the feat in seven hours, nine minutes and 38 seconds to clinch the record and he also raised £600. The record he broke had stood at seven hours, 38 minutes and 35 seconds for men aged 30-39 and under 75kg.
Money raised will go towards sports tuition at South Kilvington School, near Thirsk. Julian said: “I was pretty sore and tired afterwards and the last 30km was fairly hard going.”
