TOM RANSLEY is ready to take on the world’s best oarsmen.
The former York City Rowing Club star will line-up in the Great Britain eight crew at the World Rowing Championships in South Korea.
The eights race in their heats on Monday, with the repechage scheduled for Wednesday and the final on Sunday, September 1.
University of York graduate Ransley, who now rows for Leander, said: “I’m happy to say I have been named in the men’s eight – the priority boat – for the fifth year in a row.
“I’m very excited about the prospect of racing the fastest boats in the world. We have worked really hard as a crew, and I think we are going faster for all our efforts.
“I hope it’s fast enough to turn around a disappointing fourth in Lucerne (in the World Cup series) and return to our winning form – but we won’t know until the final race of the season.”
