HOLDERS Haxby 1 retained their trophy at the 17th annual Martyn Kennedy Memorial Netball Tournament at Manor School.
A field of 13 teams entered the event and battled it out for the Memorial Trophy for the winners and the Kennedy Cup, voted on by all the teams as a fair play award.
Haxby 1, the Hornets, went through the tournament unbeaten in their 12 round-robin matches.
Second place went to Rawcliffe Rebels, while joint third were Hax-Babes and Elvington Diamonds, with British Telecom fifth.
RI finished sixth, followed by Team Turf, Hax-Belles, Elvington Emeralds, Stamford Vikings, Ladybirds ‘B’, Advanced and Northern Netball.
Stamford Vikings were awarded the Kennedy Cup for fair play.
The annual event is held in memory of the son of netball stalwart, Val Kennedy, and all proceeds are given to the intensive care unit at York Hospital, where Martyn lost his battle for life in 1993, aged just 17.
The tournament raised £400.
