ALL-CONQUERING Haxby 1 retained the York and District Netball League division one championship, winning all their matches.

A return to the fold was made by new mum Gemma Summerbell who slotted back into the team with ease, and the well-established nature of the squad showed in the way the team performed throughout the season, each knowing the others' style of play.

Rufforth A' again took the runners up position, finishing 11 points behind the champions.

Division two champions Elvington 1 will play top-flight netball for the first time in their history next season, having lost only one match this season.

Returning to division one are Millers A'. Relegated last year, they bounced straight back after losing only three matches this season.

Division three victors Panthers continue their upwards march.

They have now produced a fourth promotion in as many years, with a team consisting of the same players over that period. Losing only one match to Rawcliffe 4, they were clear winners. Joining them on the up were runners-up Rufforth B'.

Division four saw Haxby 6 move up as title-winners. Defenders Trish Bell and Jane Baulch have played together for four seasons now, demonstrating how continuous partnerships work best by having the best defensive record in their respective division for the fourth year on the bounce.

Despite being hampered by not having a regular squad, York St John's came second to seal promotion.

Clearly heading division five after not dropping a point all season were last year's relegated team Ladybirds B'.

Comprising four regular, long-standing players, their experience has shown through to help other squad members in the push for a new division four challenge.

Easingwold A' and Hemingbrough 1 had a close run all season, but it was Easingwold who prevailed to return to the fourth division after a two-year absence.

Division six started with a team short after a late withdrawal, but consistency was the key, with both teams who had gained promotion last year upwardly mobile again.

Elvington 4 were crowned as champions to be joined in a higher league by Tadcaster, a team in only its second season of York & District netball.

Division 7 was won comfortably by new team Scarborough, a group of teachers who travel to York to play.

As all new teams must start in the lowest division, this well- established squad will play in division six next year.
