VETERAN motorcycle racer Bob Farrington picked up two replica trophies at the Manx Grand Prix 2013 – only seven weeks after breaking his collarbone and ribs.
The 60-year-old came 39th in the junior race on his Suzuki GSXR 600, which was an improvement on last year when gearbox problems led him to barely finish.
Farrington, based at Rawcliffe, near Selby, claimed his second replica in the lightweight race. Despite not beating his eighth place finish from 2012, he was a respectable tenth this year riding a RMKD Kawasaki ZXR400.
Farrington has been racing at the Manx Grand Prix for 21 years and was this year awarded the Spirit of the Manx award for his dedication to the event.
The winner of the award is voted for by the members of the Manx Grand Prix Riders’ Association and is awarded to those riders who have shown good sportsmanship, commitment and passion.
Farrington’s next meeting is this weekend’s Gold Cup at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough. He will race at Cadwell Park on October 19 and 20.
