Veteran rider Bob Farrington picked up a sensational win against the odds in the Auto 66 Northern Formula 400 Championship at Donington Park, writes Tom Nancarrow.
Farrington, fresh from his first ever win at Scarborough’s Oliver’s Mount, defied the odds to charge his RMKD-tuned Kawasaki ZXR 400 over the line first.
The rugby league player turned motorbike rider was T-boned by another rider and was pushed onto the grass during the race.
Farrington managed to stay upright and rejoin the circuit in front of the grandstand.
From then on, Farrington managed to overtake the larger capacity bikes that had been mixed in with his class to win the lightweight trophy. Farrington’s next meeting is at Mallory Park followed by the famous Cock O’ The North event at Scarborough.
He then goes away to the Isle of Man riding a GPZ600R in the new Classic TT and Suzuki 750cc and 600cc in the Senior and Junior MGP, before switching back to his trusty ZX R400 in the lightweight races.
