RACING driver Jonny Greenwood enjoyed mixed results in the opening rounds of the Protyre Ginetta GT5 Challenge season.

Copmanthorpe-based Greenwood, who drives a Ginetta G20, came fourth in the first of the three races at Oulton Park in Cheshire and, after failing to finish the second race, claimed third place in the final run.

Greenwood, sponsored by Askham Bryan School of Motorsport, said he was pleased with the weekend as a whole.

“I was really pleased with how it went despite the second race being disappointing. The fact I got a podium finish was great,” he said.

Greenwood explained the reason behind his inability to finish in his second race.

He said: “A massive pile up on the first corner caused the race to be red flagged and then once the race had a restarted I had a puncture which I meant I had to pull over meaning I was unable to continue.”

Greenwood is now looking ahead to the next round at Rockingham in Northamptonshire on May 5 and 6.
