Simon Dyson set to return to Major action
YORK’S lord of the swing Simon Dyson is a major winner already as he returns to Major action tomorrow.
Threatened by a serious injury, Dyson was facing a lengthy lay-off from world golf after he was disgnosed with a pelvic injury.
Medical advice was that if he continued to play he could suffer a stress fracture of the pelvis, which would then sideline the six-time European Tour title winner for several months.
But almost three weeks of rest and a recuperation programme, buoyed by swimming, have sealed a stunning recovery for the 34-year-old to take his place in the US Open Championship, which starts tomorrow.
World-ranked number 48 Dyson revealed the pelvis “had healed great” and before jetting out to America he tweeted “San Fran here I come”.
The US Open is being staged at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Dyson will be partnered in the first two rounds by Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and Charlie Wi, of South Korea.
