IF Simon Dyson’s Ryder Cup ambition is to come true this year then he can reflect on a Swede dream start to 2012.
The York-born Dyson opens his European Tour campaign in the Volvo Golf Champions tournament at the Fancourt course in South Africa tomorrow.
He will be partnered by Sweden’s leading player Robert Karlsson.
Dyson goes into the $2 million event fuelled by his own dual drive of making this September’s European Ryder Cup team to challenge the United States in Chicago and also cracking the world’s top 15.
And Karlsson, like Dyson a winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2008 – a year before Dyson’s triumph at St Andrew’s, has twice played in Ryder Cup matches in 2006 and 2008.
