ONE of the best days of his professional career will flood back for York's Simon Dyson tomorrow.

That's when Dyson returns to the European Tour after a two-week absence caused by a back injury and then last week's Ryder Cup spectacular.

Dyson is in a star-dappled field for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, a tournament he won in 2009 and which still represents his biggest single pay-day in the professional ranks - a winner's cheque of 540,000 euros.

Since withdrawing on the eve of the Handa Wales Open at Celtic Manor two weeks ago with injury Dyson has dropped three places to 100 in the world rankings.

The back spasm, which flared as he put together his last practice session ahead of the Wales Open, could not have come at a more inopportune time as he was heading to Celtic Manor buoyed by his runner-up spot in the KLM Open in Holland, which shot him up to 97th in the world ratings - his highest position for more than a year.

The Dunhill Links features separate rounds at St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie courses on the east coast. A cut is made for the leading 60-plus golfers to compete in the final round back at St Andrews on Sunday.

Dyson will be up against tough opposition. In the field are no fewer than four of the victorious Ryder-Cup winning European team - Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Stephen Gallacher and Victor Dubuisson - and triumphant European captain Paul McGinley.
