SIMON DYSON bids to go one better when he tees off today in the ISPS Handa Welsh Open.

The York-born European Tour ace is paired with Scotland’s Marc Warren and Dutchman Joost Luiten for the first two rounds at Celtic Manor.

Dyson, right, comes into the tournament buoyed by his return to the world’s top 100 after finishing second at the KLM Open last week.

The 36-year-old has now won nearly 800,000 euros this season and, with the last of his six titles having been three years ago, looks ready to get back on the winning trail.

He said: “I’ve put in a lot of good work lately and I feel it’s coming through. There are some good tournaments to come, especially the Dunhill which is one of my favourite events, so hopefully I can improve that little bit more.”

Malton & Norton GC star Dyson, now 22nd in the Race to Dubai standings, tees off at 1pm.
