YORK’S Simon Dyson put the slice of pie into Piedmont to savour a top-ten finish in the Italian Open.
A weekend of memorable golf was produced by the 36-year-old player to bag a tie for seventh spot at the Circolo Golf complex in Turin.
Healthily placed at five-under-par at the midpoint, Dyson turned on the power. He carded a three-under-par 69 on Saturday when four birdies were marred by just a lone bogey.
Yesterday’s final round started dismally with a dropped shot on the second hole, but the Dyson charge gathered momentum with a scintillating eagle two on the par-four seventh hole.
After a run of pars, Dyson completed his surge into the top ten with three successive birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes for a second round of 68.
