SIMON DYSON let slip a storming start on a dramatic final day at the Nordea Masters in Sweden.

Starting day four at five under par, the York-born star eagled the par five opening hole at PGA Sweden National in Malmo, and followed up with birdies at the third and fifth.

However, nine under par quickly became six under with three shots leaked in four holes before the turn, bogeys coming at the sixth, seventh and ninth holes.

A final birdie at the 17th moved Dyson into a four-way tie for 21st place after rounds of 69, 72, 70 and 70, a finish which earned the 36-year-old 16,950 euros.

Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee overcame Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and Scotland's Stephen Gallacher in a play-off to seal a dramatic victory.

A closing 65 set the clubhouse lead at 16 under par, and only Dubuisson and Gallacher were able to match his score.

Heading back down the 18th, Jaidee spun his third shot to within three feet and, after seeing Dubuisson and Gallacher miss lengthy birdie putts, he converted to seal a sixth European Tour title.
