Clifton Cycling Club’s racing season ended with the club hill climbing championship, which involved short, uphill time trials for 32 riders at Bishop Wiltion near Pocklington.
The riders faced a tough one mile climb on the Worsendale Road, which took between six and 11 minutes.
Paul Musgrave was quickest, taking just six minutes 34 seconds.
Guest rider Iona Sewell, of Squadra Donne racing team, was the fastest woman, a mere second ahead of Clifton’s Heather Tuffs who beat her club’s women’s course record to finish 12th.
Arthur Marshall (17) was Clifton’s fastest junior and came in overall third place while Alastair McMaster was quickest juvenile (U16).
Ian Hagyard was the club’s fastest ‘over-50’ rider and Arny Pearson claimed 14th place overall and the 60+ award.
The hill climb follows the immensely successful Thursday Club Time Trial Series where many full fields provided fierce competition.
Jon Cocker from Acomb beat Kevin Macklam and Chris Cuckson to first place overall.
Oliver Dixon was first U16 rider ahead of Tom Thrall and Peter Ellwood, while Kevin Macklam was quickest veteran.
