CLIFTON Cycling Club's Rob Gray won the under-16s category during the second meeting of the club's Day @ Races series at York Sport Village.

Gray finished ahead of Tom Pidock, of Aire Valley, after the pair broke away from the bunch in tough conditions to gain over half a lap on the field.

Two of the senior races were sold out again, with the women's field growing to more than 20 riders.

Lauren O'Brien produced a strong display to take the win in the women's handicap.

There were more than 40 riders in the main race and the sprint finish was led by Kristofor Hargreaves, of Selby CC, with Mark Tobin, of Albarosa Cycling Club, taking second.

In the final race of the day, Alex Dalton, of Squadra RT and Matthew Williams, of Chevin Cycles Trek.com, quickly gained a significant lead.

Dalton outsprinted Williams to take the win.

The final race in the series takes place on Saturday, March 29.
