WEST Park C' have given themselves the chance of revenge in the final of the York Veterans' Bowls League's Maddison Cup.

They will battle it out against holders RI Amateurs in a repeat of last year's final.

In two closely fought semi-finals, RI beat Dringhouses A' 14-13 while West Park C' edged out Bootham A' 12-11.

In the Coronation Cup, favourites Barbican easily overcame West Park A' 26-9, and in a game decided on the last end, Osbaldwick A' beat West Park B' 16-15 to book their place in the final.

Both Maddison and Coronation Cup finals will be played at West Bank Park on Thursday, October 10.

Barbican beat Shipton A' 18-13 to go clear at the top of division one in their penultimate league game while RI Amateurs lost to Bert Keech 17-13. Holgate moved into second spot one point behind Barbican, who visit RI Amateurs in their final game.

Scarcroft lost 21-13 against West Park C', which assures West Park A', who did not have a game, of the second division championship.

Dunnington B' lost two games by only one shot against Bishopthorpe B' and Stamford Bridge A'. This means they have relinquished leadership of division three to Stamford Bridge A', who have a superior shots difference.

Shipton B' with two wins against Forum A' and Forum B' have secured the division four title. The other promotion spot is still wide open.

Dringhouses A' dropped only their third point of the division five season when drawing 16-16 with Poppleton A'. RI Spartans need to win their last game against Stamford Bridge B' to pip Copmanthorpe C' for second place.

The two top teams in division six both won. Osbaldwick A' beat Vickers 22-20 and Acomb A' beat Dringhouses C' 21-10.
